How to go Single user Mode in RHEL/CentOS-5/6.X

In this toutorial we will learn how to enter in Single user mode/ Safe mode in Linux OS.

Step 1 : Reboot your Linux Machine and Press “Esc” key from your keyborb as soon as Linux machine Startup.

Step 2: You can now select your Operating system appear on screen and Press “e” key to modify kernel . If you select worng OS then to return to previos screen Press “Esc” key from kebord.

Step 3: Now to go to kernel vmlinuz line then Press “e” to edit and on next screen wirte “1” or “single” so that your machine will enter in to single user mode.

Step 4 : After changing in kernel line value “1”, Press “Enter” to go back to previous screen

Step 5 : Press “b” key to boot , After boot your machine will be enter in to Safe model/ Single user Mode.
